We are not lawyers so everything is based on our research and knowledge on the topic. Please do your own research. Firstly, we never support the illegal action of stealing someone else copywritten material. Downloading and streaming are two completely different topics. Streaming is Considered more of a gray area since you are technically just watching something that was posted online from someone else. As Canadian laws change (Which I think they might) you may see a heavier crack down on users who choose to stream online.
There are actually a few reasons for this. Third party applications basically act as a search engine that scrap sites for various links to content. The main factors that affect links are the following.
1. Website getting shut down.
These sites are illegally hosting shows and movies for free. This of course means that the owner of the material wants it shut down as they are effectively stealing from them.
2. Your internet provider.
Did you know your internet service provider (isp) can block certain sites if they believe it violates copywrite laws? They do this by using you Ip address and blocking that content. This effectively blocks links from those sites. A work around is to use a VPN to port your Ip address and (kind of) change it.
3. Your Internet speed and Connection
Your internet speed and strength of connection can greatly affect both links and buffering. We have an article here on how to help control buffering. We always suggest an ethernet plug in. For a few dollars a month you can also sign up for Real Debrid - check more info on it here.
Yes, There are tons of free legal apps such as CBC, PBS and other paid ones that allow you to view live tv on your device. There are also third party applications that may give you various channels, use these apps with your own discretion as they may include illegally streamed live content.
